Yoga gives me the opportunity to listen to my body and to realize that every session is different. Focusing on my breathing helps to keep my mind from wandering during class. Physically, I have noticed an improvement in my balance and upper body strength. I have reduced my stress level and I don't feel the same tension from stress in my neck, back and shoulders. I feel emotionally refreshed after yoga. It is much easier to face a busy afternoon after a workplace yoga class.

My running has benefited from increased flexibility and the controlled breathing aspects of yoga; any twinges that I may feel during a run can be alleviated by focusing my breath into that part of my body. I practice Yoga as a way of slowing down the aging process by maintaining my flexibility, posture and balance. I feel a sense of satisfaction from working towards and accomplishing poses. During a yoga class, I enjoy the ability to shut out the outside world. After yoga, I feel tired but energized.

Since taking the gentle yoga class, I've noticed that I have increased my strength and mobility. My balance is also getting better and I feel less pain in my back, shoulders and hips. My weekly yoga classes have increased my strength. This has made me less susceptible to injury and has allowed my hamstring muscle, which was pulled before I began yoga, to heal. Mentally, I have found myself able to concentrate more in my University classes and in many other areas of my life. Emotionally, I have noticed that fatigue is less of a problem. I feel much more relaxed and energetic in my day to day activities. The breathing performed at the beginning of each class has helped me maintain calm throughout and even after the class. Yoga allows me to take time out from my busy schedule to relax and regenerate. It also brings more body awareness. Yoga has helped increase my strength and flexibility. Yoga has greatly enhanced my concentration. I am a person who is often 'inside my head'. Yoga has taught me how to be more in the moment and to focus on enjoying what I'm presently doing and not thinking about what I did incorrectly or what is coming next. That is the real benefit of yoga classes, you don't know what pose is next so you can't prepare or dread what's coming next. Margau provides a nice balance between the physical and mental benefits of yoga. She is very approachable, has a great sense of humour and can laugh along with the class when something is funny.
